When grid settings are saved the column that is the current sort will become the default sort column along with the current sort direction (ascending/descending)
The header of the column that is currently sorted will be dark gray and will contain the familiar AZ/ZA and arrow bitmap.
The current default saved sort column text will be red if it is not the currently selected sort column.
If a column is not sorted then it appears in color reverse.
If the column is not wide enough the AZ/ZA bitmap will overlap. Do NOT report this as a bug.
