After the necessary records and settings have been set up, transactions from the fueling system can be loaded into the RTA system through the EFI program. The following steps need to be completed in order to load fuel data into RTA and update the corresponding vehicle and fuel records:

  1. Extract or poll the data from the fueling system to a text data file.
  2. Verify the text data file is in the proper subdirectory.
  3. Load the fuel data (FFEL).
  4. Review the Load Summary report.
  5. Review the loaded data and make any necessary changes or adjustments (FFEE).
  6. Reload the data if necessary.
  7. Process the loaded data (FFEP).
  8. Review the Process Summary report.
  9. Make any necessary changes or adjustments (FFEE).
  10. Reprocess transactions that may not have been processed (FFEP) OR manually key them in using the Quick Fuel Entry option (FFQ).

Step 1 is done in your fueling program; contact the fuel system vendor if assistance is needed to complete this step. The remaining steps are documented in the following sections in this chapter. Once all the steps have been successfully completed, fuel transactions will exist in the RTA system just as if they had been manually keyed in one by one. At this point, you can proceed as you normally would before the EFI option was in place. If you normally post the transactions to pumps and tanks after entering them in RTA, then that is what you will do next; if you normally enter pump meter readings, stick readings, and fuel drops—do that. In other words, process the fuel transactions in RTA just like you have in the past.
