In order to schedule work, work orders need to be created in the RTA Fleet Management system. A decision should be made as to who will create these work orders and/or assign them to mechanics—a clerk, a service order writer, the mechanics, parts manager, shop foreman, fleet manager, or a combination of people. Mechanic jobs can be assigned immediately when work order lines are created or afterwards by using the Schedule Jobs option (WPS). Indirect jobs can also be assigned to mechanics by using the Add Labor Transaction option (WPA).
