To categorize the various types of tools in inventory, select the Types menu option (MOT). It is not necessary to set up tool types in order to use Tool Checkout.

Adding a Tool Type

  1. To add a tool type, select the Types menu option (MOT).
  2. The Tool Types lookup list will be displayed—choose ADD to add a tool type.
  3. Enter up to eight characters for the tool type code and then press ENTER.
  4. Enter up to 25 characters for the tool type description and then press ENTER.
  5. Verify the data and then choose OK to save the new tool type.

NOTE Tool types can also be added through the Tool Maintenance window (MOM ).
Refer to "Tool Records" later in this chapter for more information.

Changing a Tool Type

  1. To edit a tool type description, select the Types menu option (MOT).
  2. The Tool Type lookup list will be displayed
  3. Highlight the tool type to edit and then choose EDIT.
  4. Edit the tool type description as needed and then choose OK to save the changes.

Deleting a Tool Type

  1. To delete a tool type, select the Types menu option (MOT).
  2. The Tool Type lookup list will be displayed
  3. Highlight the tool type to deleteand then choose EDIT.
  4. Verify that you have selected the correct record and then choose DELETE to
  5. delete the tool type.
