Editing a Tire

The fields available for edits depends on the tire status. If a tire was mounted on the wrong vehicle, for example, the vehicle number cannot be modified through the tire record. The tire would have to be dismounted and remounted on the correct vehicle. To edit the information for a tire record, do the following:

1. Select Master > Tire > File Maintenance from the RTA main menu (MTM).
2. Enter a tire number or press F1 to select a tire from the lookup list.
3. Make the changes as needed. As tires are mounted, dismounted, sent to the capper, etc. the tire costs, history, and statistics are updated. Changes can be made to the tire costs and statistics by selecting the appropriate option from the Edit menu or clicking on the corresponding icon in the toolbar.
4. Save the record.

Renumbering a Tire

While renumbering tires may be rare in some fleets, others renumber tires that have been capped to signify the change in status. Only tires in inventory can be renumbered; tires that are mounted, at the capper, or out of service cannot be renumbered. When a tire is renumbered, all the data for that tire is processed and updated with the new tire number. To renumber a tire record, do the following:

1. Select Master > Tire > File Maintenance from the RTA main menu (MTM).
2. Enter a tire number or press F1 to select a tire from the lookup list.
3. Select Utilities > Renumber from the menu or click on the Renumber icon in the toolbar.
4. Enter the new tire number. If the tire number already exists, you'll be prompted to reenter the tire number.

Transferring a Tire

Tires may be transferred from one facility to another by using the tire renumber program. Only tires in inventory can be transferred; tires that are mounted, at the capper, or out of service cannot be transferred. When transferring a tire, all the tire data for that tire is processed and updated with the new facility and tire number and then moved to the new facility. To transfer a tire from one facility to another, do the following:

1. Select System > Utilities > Tires > Renumber from the RTA main menu (STTR).
2. Enter a tire number or press F1 to select a tire from the lookup list.
3. Enter the facility number where the tire will be transferred or press F1 to select a facility from the lookup list.
4. Enter the new tire number or press F2 to use the same tire number. If the tire number already exists in the new facility, you'll be prompted to reenter the tire number.
